Lauren is a licensed master social worker (LSCSW) in both Kansas and Missouri. After receiving her bachelor's degree in social work from Kansas State University, she started her career as a case manager working with children and their families in the foster care system. She then pursued her master's degree in social work from the University of Kansas, graduating from the advanced placement program in 2014. During her clinical studies, Lauren completed her practicum at Health Care Access Clinic, where she provided supportive-therapy services to low-income residents in Douglas County, KS. Following graduation, Lauren accepted a position as a behavioral health professional at Lansing Correctional Facility in Lansing, KS. She provided crisis intervention as well as individual and group therapy services to male inmates in a maximum-security setting. Lauren has been trained intensively in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) from Behavioral Tech, LLC, and Corizon Health Systems. She currently facilitates DBT skills groups for adults, as well as for adolescents and their parents. Lauren seeks to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with her clients. She believes in incorporating the power of humor and creative exercises while establishing rapport with her clients as she models and teaches skillfulness through the DBT model.
