Parent and Family BPD Education Group

A special group designed for Parents and Family members of those with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

BPD is a serious mental health problem believed to affect approximately 1.6 percent of the population. Persons with BPD suffer intense emotions, have difficulty navigating relationships and often engage in risky and self injurious behaviors including suicidality. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an effective treatment that helps clients learn to regulation emotion, improve interpersonal effectiveness, tolerate distress and live a healthy and happy life.

Topics covered include:

  • What is Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

  • What are the root causes of BPD?


  • Myths and misconceptions about BPD


  • Introduction to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Basis skills taught in DBT and how you can use them


  • How to tolerate and manage crisis

  • Use interpersonal effectiveness skills to improve your relationship with your loved one

  • What medications are commonly prescribed

  • Question and Answer session

    Attend as many groups as you wish. Topics vary somewhat based on needs of attendees.
